There are SO many stories of people gaining knowladge and loosing something. It eventually brings them to their death. So, as this person gains the fruit of knowladge, they give up some of themselves. And in this pict... very literally give up some of themselves... Don't get me wrong, I love knowladge, and breath to learn. But this is just to go along with all those stories and ledgends
